Awa Odori Festival is one of the most popular Japanese festivals, which originated in Tokushima prefecture. It was held for the first time around 400 years ago: the construction of feudal lord’s palace was finished and he wanted everyone to celebrate it, so he organized a big fest. The citizens, thanks to alkohol, were very jovial and started to move in a peculiar way, similiar to dance – it was later called „the fool’s dance”. The festives were so deligthful, that it was decided, that they’ll be held each year.
